General Information

Overview

The role of luteinizing hormone (LH) during folliculogenesis has intrigued the scientific and medical community for at least three decades. There is an emerging galaxy of research to explore concerning this enigmatic subject. The availability of recombinant drugs now offers, for the first time, the opportunity to examine the role of follicle stimulating hormone and LH separately. An emerging topic during last year’s conference was LH supplementation to improve the outcome in a subgroup of low prognosis patients selected according to POSEIDON classification.

This new virtual preceptorship is designed to explore the role of luteinizing activity during folliculogenesis and beyond. The virtual preceptorship will feature and summarise educational material released during the last edition of the Virtual World Conference on Luteinizing Hormone in ART. In addition, three live sessions (practical session in three ‘host’ clinics) will be streamed live and each session will provide the opportunity for more practical in-depth learning. Each live session will engage a group of participants that has prepared case studies and questions. The chairs will present selected case studies/questions focusing on LH and ART, and discuss them live together with the host Clinic team. Prior to each live session, relevant MCQ and literature will be shared with participants. The pre-live exercises will guide discussion on the optimal clinical management for each case.

During the preceptorship, the participant can also visit the chat room to discuss interesting topics and debate with colleagues. The virtual preceptorship doesn’t stop there – A library with a collection of recent articles related to the program will be freely available to all participants. We hope you find this learning experience, on the role of luteinizing hormone in ART, to benefit your on-going education. We look forward to welcoming you to this next exploration.

Learning Objectives

• Understand the importance of luteinizing activity during folliculogenesis and beyond.
• Understand the dynamics of hypothalamic-pituitary axis in the pathogenesis of hypo- and normo-gonadotropic amenorrhea.
• Comprehend the concept of relative gonadotropin deficiency.
• Discuss and debate the management of low prognosis patients.
• Comprehend the clinical utility of the POSEIDON classification for the management of low prognosis women.
• Discover the clinical relevance of LH supplementation in ART.
• Appreciate the clinical relevance and pathogenesis of the progesterone rise during COS.
• Analyse the relevance of LH during the luteal phase and Introduce the concept of individualized luteal phase support.
• Explore the potential of LH in male infertility.

Educational format

The virtual preceptorship will feature:

13

The virtual preceptorship will feature 6 video lectures that were released throughout the last Virtual World Conference on Luteinizing Hormone in ART: A New Galaxy is Born! In 2020.

17

6 Scribing mapping of the video lectures that were released throughout the last Virtual World Conference on Luteinizing Hormone in ART: A New Galaxy is Born! In 2020.

12

3 live sessions (practical session) will be streamed live and each session will provide the opportunity for more practical in-depth learning. Each live session will engage a group of participants that have prepared case studies and questions. The chair will present selected case studies/ questions focusing on LH in ART, and discuss them live with the faculty. Prior to each live session, relevant MCQ and literature will be shared with participants. The pre-live exercises will guide discussion on the optimal clinical management for each case. Participants willing to send their case study.

14

During the preceptorship, users will be able to visit the chat room to discuss interesting topics and debate with colleagues.

15

Upon completion of all three surveys, users will get a diploma signed by the Chair and certificate for attending the three live sessions.

16

Further, a library with a collection of articles related to the program will be provided.
